What We Believe
Our Problem
God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. The first man and woman, Adam and Eve were made perfect and lived without sin until they rebelled against God. Now, all of Adam’s descendants, including you, live under the curse of death and sin. Everyone has deliberately chosen to disobey God. In our own sinful state no one is even able to seek after God. The result is our separation from God and the sentence of death and hell upon us.
As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not event one.” Romans 3:10-12
Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in His sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. Romans 3:19-20
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Our situation is desperate. We are separated from God and incapable of doing anything about it. We have sinned and are under the curse of death and punishment.
Our Response
We must confess and repent (turn away from our sins) and surrender our lives totally to Him. God commands you to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus. God even grants you the faith required to believe. True converts will have enduring evidence of their salvation and will love and fellowship with God’s people in a local church. They will bear spiritual fruit, and they will endure unto the end as they watch and eagerly wait for the Lord to return as He promised.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9, 13
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2.8-9
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give you. John 15:16
In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going. John 14:2-4
Pray to God and confess your sins to Him. Turn from your sin and ask Him to forgive you. Place your faith in Jesus, His death on a cross in your place, and His resurrection from the dead. Surrender your will to Jesus and find a local church to help you in your Christian walk.
God’s Answer
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Psalm 103:8
Though we are deserving of punishment and judgment, God is merciful and loving. God provided an answer to our problem: Jesus the Christ, meaning the Messiah or Savior. Jesus lived a perfect life without any sin. He offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sin. Jesus took the punishment of death upon Himself. He died on the cross and three days later rose from the dead, securing forgiveness and eternal life for all who surrender to Him and trust in Him alone. He paid the penalty for our sin. But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him. Hebrews 9:27-28
Are you humbled and grieved to learn of your sin? Do you want to be forgiven and made right with God?
